Description

Multi Entertainment’s Comedy Roast & Toast presents a night of entertainment and laughter as we honor a local hero and/or pioneer in various facets of the Bermudian life. These honorees may include anyone from entertainers, to politicians, to athletes, to basic everyday public figures who have become iconic staples in Bermuda. In January 2010, Multi Entertainment hosted their very first roast with one of Bermuda’s most, if not THE most, iconic and treasured entertainers, Mr. Gene Steede. The event saw hundreds come out in support of Mr. Steede and enjoyed a host of local entertainment before other local icons assembled and took the stage to poke fun at him. At the end, Mr. Steede was able to get a bit of ‘revenge’ on all the roasters, as he too was able to perform a bit of roasting of his own. As Bermuda has an enormous abundance of iconic figures, choosing a suitable candidate for our next one should be a fairly easy task. It is our hope to do this event annually in appreciation of our many great Bermudian icons. Currently in our plans, we are considering a roast for the likes of “The Um-Um Boys”, Bootsie, 2 Fools, Mark “Cybil” Anderson, Dame Jennifer Smith, Dale Butler, Dr. Ewart Brown, Shawn Goater, Peter Brumby, Dwayne Leverock, Keivel “The Captain” Burgess, Rick Richardson, David Lopes, CV "Jim" Woolridge, Johnny Barnes, Eddie Lambe, and Cornell David Burch to name a few.

Benefits:

The benefit of these roasts is that they create an awareness of the great things that have been accomplished by great Bermudians. It is important that we honor our own local celbrities and iconic figures while they are still amongst the living, as they will not feel the appreciation that is deservered for them once they pass. Too often loved ones are appreciated, recognized, and praised after their demise. Once we realize that it is important to idolize and love our own, much like we flock to idolise and support those from other countries, then we can move towards a more confident and proud Bermuda. Our island pride and self identity MUST start with us, and this event sereves as a catalyst for that. Not only does the evening serve as a night of entertainment and enjoyment, but it delivers educational elements as well. It is always said that the best way to learn is when you are enjoying the surroundings while receiving your lessons. The Comedy Roast & Toast does just that.
